Depending on your mounting configuration you can see whether you need a Clockwise (CW, Right Hand Rotation) starter, or a Counter-Clockwise (CCW, Left Hand Rotation) starter!

Depending on your mounting configuration you can see whether you need a Clockwise (CW, Right Hand Rotation) starter, or a Counter-Clockwise (CCW, Left Hand Rotation) starter!

Groove Method for Determining Starter Rotaion:
  1. Hold the starter so that the nose cone (or drive) is pointed up, and the com-end plate is pointed down.
  2. Take a close look at the tip of each tooth on the gear. There will be a beveled (slanted) edge on one side of the tooth or the other.
  3. If the beveled edge is on the right, the starter is RIGHT HAND (Clockwise CW) ROTATION.
  4. If the beveled edge is on the left, the starter is LEFT HAND (Counter-Clockwise CCW) ROTATION.
